Tom Kelly traded in his J-35 and J-24 for a brand new J-122 named Anam Cara. Anam Cara is the ultimate racer/cruiser. She has a very comfortable interior for cruising while the exterior has a large main, non-overlapping jib and asymmetric spinnaker flown from a sprit, making crew work simple while delivering great performance.
Tom’s Anam Cara won Seattle’s Center Sound series in fleet 3. The Center Sounds series is comprised of three separate long distance races: Blakely Rock, Possession Point and Pully Point.
Anam Cara is equipped with 3DL Aramid main and jib with a single sided taffeta. The 3DL sails provide the shape holding demanded for racing while the taffeta layer provides increased durability for cruising. Anam Cara has a V-Series Asymmetric for racing and a smaller G-AP2 Gennaker with a snuffer for cruising.

To see one of the best raced ocean boat in the Portland area you would have to go poking around inside a warehouse in Wilsonville to find Tom Garnier’s J-125 Reinrag. The J-125 is a downwind racing machine. Tom has many ocean racing victories with Reinrag. The most impressive win is the 2007 Transpac race. Transpac starts in Los Angeles, California and finishes in Honolulu, Hawaii. Tom won not only his class but was 1st overall! More recently Tom won first in class and 2nd overall in the 2008 Cabo race. Cabo starts in Long Beach, California and finishes in Cabo, Mexico.
Reinrag is equipped with 3DL Aramid headsails, V-Series Asymmetrics and a 1.7oz Norlam spinnaker staysail.

Congratulations to Scott Campbell for winning the Portland Yacht Clubs Elliot Long Distance trophy, awarded for the best offshore performance in 2007. Scott finished 1st in class, 1st in division and 3rd overall in the Swiftsure Cape Flattery race with over 80 boats competing.
Scott races with a full inventory of North Sails. For upwind he uses 3DL Aramid sails and downwind he uses North’s gradient series spinnakers.

Congratulations to John Hanna’s J-130 Orizaba for winning class A of the 2007 Oregon Offshore. Oregon Offshore is a race from Astoria, Oregon to Victoria, B.C. Orizaba is equipped with a 3DL Marathon main, 3DL Aramid headsails and a V-Series Asymmetric.
